Welcome
he Red House is a gracious, early Georgian hunting lodge, a National Monument shaded by the leafy Oaks of Newlands and sheltering in the lee of a majestic Table Mountain.
Originally dating back to the year 1729, this enchanting house is one of Cape Town's oldest surving buildings.
The bedroom wing has walls over three feet thick, with high ceilings and floors glowing with the patina of Yellowwood and Oregon pine from a bygone era. All bedrooms open onto a spacious terrace designed to reflect its original grandeur. Originally used by the British Governor to entertain hunting parties and as Guest House.
The Red House has been featured in many prestigious magazines and is consistently used by the National & International fashion and film industry (as location and as accommodation).
The Western Cape
The city of Cape Town, watched over by the unique and majestic Table Mountain is South Africa’s oldest town and one of South Africa’s jewels. With its melting pot of cultures, rich historical and cultural heritage and the pristine white beaches that sweep along its coastline, the Western Cape has much to offer any visiting tourist.
In Cape Town itself, there is a mix of old and new, with major shopping centers, such as the Canal Walk Mall or closer to the Red House; Cavendish Square. Historical landmarks such as the Castle of Good Hope, the fort built by Jan Riebeeck on establishing a supply station at the Cape are just 10 minutes away.
